Cross is made from a picture frame. I kept looking for just the perfect background, and God directed me to my mothers wedding dishes. I resisted at first but it was God's direction and it turned out to be the perfect piece.
I found an old clock with a beautiful round wood frame. I took old dishes and tiles to make the mosaic from. I put the mosaic together with dark colors at the bottom, working up to light, sky shades.
I found a ceramic fist at the thrift store, and it didn’t take me long to know how I would use it. I got the picture in my mind of this fist destroying a brick wall. I also found the spiked band at the thrift store, and it seemed quite appropriate to use it in this mosaic, to remind us that we carry the authority of Jesus with us and we can boldly strike down the work of the enemy.
I found a plate with a picture of children playing, and put it together with the scripture tile. I used mosaic tiles to coordinate with the scripture tile and children pieces.
I found figurines of Mary and Joseph, but Jesus was missing. I bought a stack of old cup saucers to make the background out of to give the appearance that this woman and man were popping right out of the picture. I used leaf tiles to bring the eye to the couple in the center.
I had fun with this one! I found a serving platter at an antique store, and a child’s tea set at the thrift shop. I dug the Scrabble letters out of the closet and filled in with red and white mosaic tiles.
