On upper left is my pencil drawing that I transferred onto
the block. I went over it with narrow black marker, and
have begun carving. |

Here, I’ve carved all the floral design, leaving the
outside of the design uncarved, which will make a black
background. I carved stripes for the background inside the
flowers, just to see how it’ll look. |

I’ve just inked the block. The glare on the block is
because of the wet ink. I’m ready to place the paper on
it. |

Here’s
the paper with the block print on it. I like the black
background, but decided to cut away all the linoleum so
that the focus is the flowers. |

I’ve inked the block, laid the paper on it and now I’ll
use the baron (round tool) to press the image. |

PRESTO!! There’s the image! And now, I can color it with
colored pencils. If I use oil base ink on a heavier weight
paper, I can even water color it. |
